Gift Wrapping

A cotton dust bag, a recycled board box, and a card in Andriana’s handwriting. Free, in the shop and on anything we ship.

Order a gift

There has been no plastic in a Maison box since 2024. The dust bags are cut from offcuts by the same workroom that does our alterations, which is to say by Konstantinos on a Tuesday, and no two are quite the same size because offcuts are not.

The box is uncoated recycled board in the shop’s stone colour, closed with paper tape and a length of cotton ribbon. It is deliberately plain. A gift arrives better when it does not announce its price on the doorstep, and a plain box also survives being kept, which most of ours are — we know because people bring them back to be refilled.

If you are sending it

  1. Tell us it is a giftTick the box at checkout or say so on the phone. Nothing with a price on it goes in the parcel, including the returns slip, which we send to you instead.
  2. Write the cardUp to forty words in the box at checkout. Andriana writes them out in the studio each afternoon. Greek, English or French; anything else and we will print it rather than misspell it.
  3. Choose the dayWe hold a parcel until a date you name, within thirty days. Athens same-day exists but is a courier on a scooter, so for a gift we would rather send it the day before.
  4. If it is wrongGift returns run ninety days rather than thirty, and go back as a credit in the recipient’s name so the giver never finds out.

The harder cases

For a wedding list, a christening, or anything where more than one person is buying, ring the shop rather than using the site. Sofia keeps those on paper, which sounds absurd until you have watched two aunts buy the same slip on the same afternoon.

And if you have no idea — genuinely no idea — a gift card is not a defeat. It is the second most common thing that leaves the shop in December, and unlike a guess at a size it does not need a return.
