Journal

Four things we write, none of them often. Andriana runs it, and nothing here exists to sell you something on the same page.

The journal started because customers kept asking the same question in the shop — who made this, and why does it cost what it costs — and the answer took eleven minutes to give properly. Eleven minutes is a good conversation and a terrible thing to repeat forty times a season, so we started writing it down.

It has four strands and none of them run to a schedule that a marketing person would recognise. Designer letters appear when Élise comes back from somewhere. Care notes appear when Konstantinos has finished being annoyed about something. The fitting room goes up every six weeks with the lookbook. Seasonal edits appear twice a year and are the only ones with a date on them.

The four strands

Designer letters

Élise writes these from the atelier she is standing in, usually badly, usually the same evening. Twenty-two of them so far, one for almost every house we carry.

Care notes

How to wash it, when not to, and what Konstantinos can save after you have got it wrong. The most-read thing on the site by a distance we find slightly insulting.

The fitting room

What we pinned this cycle and what it taught us. Photographs by north light, on the people who work here and on customers who said yes.

Seasonal edits

Twice a year, what the season actually is once you take the shows out of it. Shorter than you would expect and with fewer things in it.

The Friday letter

There is a letter on Fridays. It goes out at 18:00 Athens time, it is written by Andriana and edited by nobody, and it contains one garment, one paragraph about it, and occasionally a photograph of the street. It has never contained a discount code. About 3,100 people get it and roughly forty of them reply, which is a higher proportion than anybody predicted and the reason it still exists.
