Skirts & Trousers

Trousers outsold dresses last year for the first time in ten. We have no theory for it that survives contact with the numbers.

Everything here is bought against the shoe. That is the whole discipline: a trouser has one correct length and it is decided by what is underneath it, which means a trouser sold unaltered is a trouser sold badly. Every pair that leaves the shop is hemmed by Konstantinos to a specific shoe, and if you buy online we will ask you what you will wear it with before we cut anything.

Skirts are the smaller half of the rail and the one thing we are asked for that we cannot always supply: a skirt below the knee, with a pocket, that is not a wrap. There are more requests for that garment in the customer book than for anything else in the shop.

The rail

The wide leg

The Stockholm block, unchanged since 2019, cut to clear a boot. Four colours a year and the same four.

The straight trouser

From Atelier Loukia, twenty minutes from the shop. Cut for a flat shoe, in linen for summer and a wool crepe for the rest.

The silk trouser

The unserious one in the working wardrobe, and the piece that most often gets bought in a second colour by the same person.

The long skirt

Below the calf, with pockets, and the answer to the most common request we get. Two cloths, and it sells out in both.

The midi

Below the knee and above the calf, which is the length everyone says they cannot wear and half of them can once it is hemmed properly.

The trouser for thirty-eight degrees

In the resort edit from May. Wide, high, and in a cloth that does not stick, which is the hardest single thing to buy well.

Getting the length right

  1. Bring the shoeOr tell us the heel height in centimetres. Everything else in this process depends on it and nothing else is guesswork.
  2. We pin, you standOn a flat floor, in the fitting room, without holding your breath. Both legs, because they are almost never the same.
  3. Three working daysFree in the first year on anything bought here. Five days if it is lined.
  4. It is on file after thatYour measurements sit against your name, so the second pair is hemmed to the same body without anybody measuring you again.
