The Team

Six people. Between them, about ninety years of putting clothes on real bodies.

There is no head office. Everyone on this page is in the building at 13 Tsakalof most days, including both founders, which is the reason we can promise that whoever bought a garment is available to explain it. When you ring the shop, one of these six answers.

Who is in the building

Élise Marchand — Co-founder and head buyer

French, 47. Twelve years at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche before Maison. Buys the European rails, writes the designer letters, runs the Florence and Copenhagen trips. Has worn the same Toteme blazer for nine years and will tell you what it cost.

Sofia Antonopoulou — Co-founder and atelier director

Athenian, 44. Third-generation tailor; her grandfather opened the Solonos workshop in 1957. Oversees alterations, the bridal trousseau, and the Greek makers programme. Reads Italian, argues in three languages.

Eleni Pavlidou — Head stylist

Athenian, 35. Joined in 2017 from a buying role at Attica. Pulls every Saturday rail herself and runs personal styling. Remembers whether you wore black or navy to your sister’s wedding three years ago, and mentions it gently when it matters.

Marília Costa — E-commerce and customer care

Brazilian-Portuguese, 31. Answers email within four hours during shop hours, which is a promise she made and the rest of us now have to keep. Degree in textile conservation from the University of Lisbon.

Konstantinos Vlachos — Atelier tailor

Athenian, 58. Trained at Solonos with Sofia’s mother. Does every alteration that comes through the door. Took 4cm out of a Lemaire waistband in nineteen minutes once and has refused to do it on request ever since.

Andriana Komi — Studio and editorial

Athenian, 29. Shoots the lookbook every six weeks in the Kolonaki studio by available north light — never strobes, never plug-ins. Designs the Friday letter and runs the journal.

How we work

Nobody here works on commission and nobody has a sales target. That is not a moral position so much as a practical one: the moment a stylist is paid on what leaves the shop, she stops being able to tell you that the coat does not suit you, and the only thing we actually sell is that sentence.

The shop closes for two weeks in August and everybody goes. There is no skeleton staff and the website does not ship during those weeks, which costs us a fortnight of summer trade and is not up for discussion.
