The rail nearest the door, re-hung every Monday. Between nine and twenty pieces, and about one week in six there is nothing new at all.
New arrivals at Maison is a physical rail, not a filter. It is the first thing inside the door at Tsakalof, Eleni re-hangs it on Monday mornings before the shop opens, and what goes online on Monday afternoon is the same set of garments in the same order.
It moves slowly on purpose. We carry no more than 180 styles a season across forty houses, which works out at nine or ten new pieces most weeks, and rather fewer in the two dead months. A shop that has something new every day is a shop buying to fill a rail, and that is the opposite of what this one does.
If you want it before it is on the rail, the Friday letter carries one garment a week and it is usually something landing the following Monday. There is no early access, no priority list and no code — 3,100 people get exactly the same letter at 18:00 Athens time, which is the only version of this that is not a hierarchy.
What we will do is hold a piece for forty-eight hours if you ring the shop. That is not a system, it is a phone call, and it works because there are six of us and we know what is on the rail.
