Twenty-two houses on the rails this season, grouped by where the cutting happens rather than by price.

How a house gets onto the rail

One of us goes. We look at the workroom, not the showroom, and we ask who owns the machines. If a house cannot tell us where a garment was sewn, we do not take it — which is why the list is twenty-two names and not two hundred.

Nothing is stocked in depth. Two or three of a size, occasionally one, and when it is gone it is usually gone. The exception is the six workshops we have bought from every season since we opened; those we can reorder, and often re-cut to you.
