Five shapes. No heel above six centimetres anywhere on the floor, and two of them we will not sell you without measuring your feet.
We spent 2016 trying to be a shop with a shoe wall and it took eighteen months to admit we were bad at it. What we have now is the opposite of a wall: five shapes, two makers, and a rule that nothing goes on the floor unless one of us has walked in it for a full day on Athenian pavement, which is a harder test than it sounds.
Everything is unlined or lined in leather. Nothing has a synthetic sock, because a synthetic sock is how a €300 shoe becomes unwearable in July, and this city has four months of July.
| Italian shoes | Run true to the marked size, wide at the joint. If you are between sizes, take the smaller. |
| The Kyoto shoes | Do not map to European sizing at all. In person only, measured on both feet, which are never the same. |
| Widths | We do not stock multiple widths. What we do instead is tell you which of the five shapes suits a wide foot, and two of them genuinely do not. |
| Returns | Thirty days, unworn outdoors. Try them on carpet at home for as long as you like. |
| Repairs | Resoling by a cobbler on Ippokratous we have used for nine years. We arrange it, he charges you directly, we take nothing. |
