Over a thin layer, not over the coat you intend to wear. Keep the tape level and let it sit against you without pulling.
Bust — the fullest point, tape flat across the back.
Waist — the narrowest point, usually a little above the navel.
Hip — the fullest point, roughly twenty centimetres below the waist.
Take the larger one and let us take it in. The first alteration is free within fourteen days of purchase, and a garment that has been brought down to you fits better than one that was close enough off the rail.
