Five things we do besides sell you a dress. Three of them are free, and none of them require you to buy anything on the day.
A shop that carries 180 styles a season cannot compete with a department store on choice, so it has to compete on everything that happens after the choice is made. That is what these five services are. They grew out of things we were already doing badly on the shop floor between customers — pinning a hem on the corner of the counter, keeping someone’s measurements on the back of a receipt — until we gave each of them a name, a person, and an hour in the diary.
All five run out of the Kolonaki shop at 13 Tsakalof. Four of them can be booked by phone on +30 210 7240 188 or by email, and the fifth — alterations — needs you in the room, because a hem cannot be described.
None of them is a sales appointment. Nobody at Maison works on commission and nobody has a target, which is the only reason we can say with a straight face that leaving empty-handed is a normal outcome. Roughly a third of styling appointments end with nothing bought, and about a fifth of those people come back within the season.
What we will not do is dress you for a photograph, source a piece we do not stock, or tell you something suits you when it does not. Eleni has talked more customers out of a purchase than any of us, and it is the reason the customer book has 4,800 names in it.
